gay conservatives? talk about an oxymoron! unless, of course, the word ‘conservative’ is becoming redefined….

I guess conservative, like on migration, economics, etc? Even though he’s gay, Milo Yiannopoulos, he’s very anti – LGBT movement, of you know what I mean. Apparently, some of the LGBT feel let down by the Left because of issues such as their excusing of radical Islam, etc. According to Yiannopoulos, a number of gays in America support Trump largely for that reason. Apparently.

And, yes, we do have conservative politicians who are gay in Australia – probably the nost well known is MP Tim Wilson.

OK, I forgot you’re Australian, pardon me. I was referring to the US.

Yeah. In Australia, the political Right and Religious Right/ Conservative are not necessarily linked. I don’t think our current Government (Liberal – conservative), are game enough to appease to the Religious Right. Our last Prime Minister tried to do that at one point and it backfired on him. And our cuurent PM is morexprogressive, although he’s been dragged kicking and screaming to uphold conservative social and economic values.

In Australia, we do have minor parties like the Christian Democrats and Family First (who are in the Senate this time around) and the Australian Christian Lobby who are hardcore social conservatives – especially on issues like family, marriage, etc. But then, the Senate has to negotiate, and proablyvif they went too far, that wouldn’t go too well… especially with Labor and Greens.

Anyway, just a rundown of the Australian political system.
